sick building syndrome
Also called: SBS
HB50
variety of symptoms of discomfort and illness experienced by occupants in certain buildings (including headaches; ear, nose and throat irritations; coughs; nausea; mental fatigue; and general lethargy) linked to indoor air quality
The sick building syndrome has been associated mainly with airtight buildings that have fixed windows, air conditioning or forced ventilation systems, low levels of relative humidity, and a build-up of indoor air pollutants.
