Sand is composed mainly of grains of quartz, with particle sizes ranging from 0.06 mm to 2 mm. Washed sand is used as a fine aggregate in mortar or concrete and is further subdivided into ‘coarse sand’, ‘medium sand’ and ‘fine sand’.
