tensile reinforcement, typically a bar of 15 to 50 mm in diameter, of steel or high strength polymer, which is inserted into a drill hole in rock and fixed in position by grout or mechanical anchorage
An initial tension is applied equal to or greater than 5%, and usually about 50% to 60%, of the ultimate tensile strength of the bar.
