exposure standard

Also called: ES
HB50
airborne concentration of a particular substance in the person’s breathing zone, exposure to which, according to current knowledge, should not cause adverse health effects or undue discomfort to nearly all persons
The exposure standard can take one of three forms, time-weighted average, short-term exposure limit or peak exposure limit. Values designated by Worksafe Australia, which represent, airborne concentrations of chemical substances which should neither impair the health of, nor cause undue discomfort to, nearly all workers. Exposure standard applies to long term exposure over an eight-hour day for a normal working week, over an entire working life. For further information, refer to NOHSC:1003.
