Sheet glass has natural fire-finished surfaces, but as they are never perfectly flat and parallel there is always a certain degree of distortion of vision and reflection, so that installations requiring higher quality glass use float glass or polished plate glass. Drawn sheet glass is used for general purpose glazing and specified by thickness in millimetres (mm).
