Air-conditioning

for the purposes of Section J of Volume One, means a service that actively cools or heats the air within a space, but does not include a service that directly

1. (a) cools or heats cold or hot rooms; or
2. (b) maintains specialised conditions for equipment or processes, where this is the main purpose of the service .

for the purpose of energy efficiency, a service that actively cools or heats a space within a building in order to provide a suitable environment for the building occupants, but does not include process needs, such as temperature or humidity control, as occurs in cold rooms and hot rooms

treatment of the air that allows the temperature, humidity, purity and distribution within an enclosed space to be adjusted mechanically
